Emilie Adams was born in St. Paul,Minnesota,USA, in 1941. Her studies at Harvard-Radcliffe were followed by two years working in East andNorth Africa. On her return to theUSAin 1964 she worked for a Civil Rights Movement inMississippi. She emigrated toJamaicain 1971, and settled in Rodin’s Bay, St. Mary, where she married and had two children. She became a Jamaican citizen in 1979.
