Take Three Giant Steps!   Is an educational and motivational work written for younger citizens.  The themes on which the storyline is based are distilled from the Vision 2030 Jamaica – National Development Plan.  This is the country’s first long-term development plan, which was derived through a wide-ranging process of consensus and participation, coordinated by the Planning Institute of Jamaica.

The book follows a simple and believable storyline that introduces the young reader to the major themes of the development plan, and how they are to be understood by them.  It speaks to the wealth of potential within each child, and the part they should play in sharing the Vision and making it a personal reality. Through the experiences of Manny, an eleven-year old boy living in rural Jamaica, the reader is exposed to several key issues, which give rise to the awakening of interest and purpose in his pursuit of life.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Collette Robinson is a graduate of DeCarteret College and the University of the West Indies, Jamaica.  She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Management, and a Master’s degree in Public Sector Management.  She has some twenty-four years experience in statistical analysis and social policy at the national level.  She currently serves at the Planning Institute of Jamaica, where she manages the portfolios of social protection and gender issues.  Mrs. Robinson was integrally involved in the coordination of the process towards development of the Vision 2030 Jamaica – National Development Plan.  A lover of the arts, she has dabbled in creative writing and music for many years. In this first book, she has combined her love of creative writing with an avid interest in translating the tenets of the Vision 2030 Jamaica into a form that may be more easily assimilated by younger citizens.

Mrs. Robinson resides in St. Andrew, Jamaica, with her husband and two children.
